A New Civility Code For Bloggers?

They are only going to create a subset of the blogosphere that will be loved by some, and ridiculed by others. It's very likely any members of a code observing group will both be a target, and end up hypocrites when they start flaming others.

I don't mind the lying as much as the physical/psychological threats that some people think are perfectly OK to vocalise in public. These people should not be allowed in the public forum in the same way their actions are generally circumscribed in the real world.

I heartily support named bloggers who call the police when they feel threatened; if we don't get the psychos of the web, then we'll be looking at more restricted forums and loss of pseudonymity/anonymity, which will have really restrictive consequences for some of the more powerful aspects of the new media.

Heartily agree BCL. Same as everything else, if a person can't deal with the flames, get out of the fire.

Anything else is just whining.

Having said that, I do agree with Tigger, threats are a different story.
