End Of The P2P Wars?

Not quite. The RIAA has switched from one questionable practice to another. Instead of suing you, they'll lobby your ISP to cut service. I see this strategy failing as well.

Question: the DMCA has proven useless, so why does Canada see a homegrown version?

We are looking at it up here since the record company lobbyist have both the Liberal and Conservative's ear. There has been zero public consultation on this with any of the relevant parties (inlcuding the consumer) but of course the recording industry worked hand in hand with our government to help craft that atrocity Prentice tabled at the end of last year.

One hurdle though is the blank CD levy, be interesting to see how they handle that.
